The Church calendar is a rich
pattern of feast and fasting days. These are ‘holy days’ with particular messages
and practices associated with them. They literally give us our modern word
‘holiday’. The ‘Major Feast Days’ page sets
these out and gives a flavour of what they are about. Below this are a number
of pages that deal with some of the more important feast days and seasons in
more detail. The Old English word for a 'season' was a 'tide'. |
